Tylos was the Greek name of Bahrain in the past. The Tylos burial mounds, which are spread throughout the northern area of Bahrain, are known for there huge size. These burial mounds belong to the historical period between the third century B.C. and third century A.D. They consist of a group of rectangular graves, constructed on the inside with plaster. The deceased individual was laid on its back and buried with some funeral gifts such as pottery, bronze weapons and the necessary ornaments. The influence of Greek, Parthan, Roman and Arab cultures are clearly shown in these findings and prove the old relationship of Bahrain with these civilizations.
