Introduction
The Information Section was established in 1975. It was then called the Archives Department and used to monitor Arab, Gulf,and local newspapers and magazines and file material on important topics which it provided to researchers, scholars, and interested quarters.
With the great development that occurred in the Ministry's directorates, an electronic system was installed in the Department in 1998 to enable it to keep abreast with the information revolution and technological developments. Newspapers and magazines are monitored, and all information and material pertaining to the Kingdom of Bahrain is filed and stored in accordance with the most modern systems so as to facilitate their use. The Department plans to establish an Information Center and Data Bank that contains information about the Kingdom of Bahrain in every field. It will be a reference for researchers and all interested members of the public. The Department is studying a number of new projects related to its work.
